STEAM TRAIN LOCOMOTIVE 16

Historic Mountain Train Ride on Locomotive No. 16 to Rigi Kulm

Embark on a journey back in time to the year 1871, when Europe’s first mountain railway opened, running from Vitznau or Goldau up to the Rigi. The steam-powered rides bring this pioneering achievement in railway history back to life. The trains feature lovingly and expertly restored locomotives and cars from the early years. The combination of historic technology, the distinctive sound of steam, and the impressive mountain landscape creates a unique atmosphere that is rarely experienced today.

In 2027, the steam train will operate as a scenic ride across the mountain, alternating between Vitznau and Goldau. The starting and ending points are on different sides of the Rigi. Select the appropriate booking form below for your desired route.
